Teresa Barkley
February 12 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
During our second guild meeting of the year, we will get to meet Teresa Barkley who was interviewed by Quiltfolk magazine as one of the featured quilters in their January edition.
Teresa Barkley has been fascinated with quilts her entire life, starting at the age of five. Her lecture will describe how she came to make a connection between quilts and postage stamps — seeing both of them as commemorative documents.
Teresa will bring numerous quilts that illustrate the evolution of her unique style which combines contemporary novelty prints with vintage found object materials, such as flour sacks, commemorative handkerchiefs, linen book pages, and tablecloths.
Teresa has been exhibiting her quilts since the 1970s, and her work is in museum, corporate, university, and private collections.
